Zipwire Update (logo)

At an inspection of the Play Area at School Lane, it was reported that the ground surface under the run of the wire had worn down, revealing a layer of concrete beneath it.  As this involved a health and safety risk, the Parish Council had to take action to prevent use of the zip wire pending remedial works to the ground and surface to ensure that it could only be used when it was safe again.

It had been hoped to have the works completed before the school summer holidays and the Parish Council received quotes for the groundworks at the zip wire location and surrounding the other play equipment in late Spring. However, the recommended contractors took slightly different approaches for how to remedy the issues with the surfaces so further consideration had to be given to establish which would be the best approach to take and this has required some further investigation/enquiry. The quotes received are beyond the scope of the Parish Council budget for this year so other sources of funding need to be found or the works will need to be carried out in phases in order of priority. Unfortunately, situations like this are never as straightforward as the Parish Council would hope.

Recommendations to the Parish Council will be considered at the September meeting for a decision to be taken and any additional funding sources can then be explored.

Further updates will be added to this website and the Parish Council Facebook page when available.
