Fulford has a vibrant and active community with a variety of clubs, activities, sports and events in the Social Hall, St Oswald’s Church and Library. The Community Noticeboards around the parish are available for any groups wishing to advertise their events or services and a map showing the location of the boards can be found on the link below. If you have posters advertising events or activities, or publicising public services, the Parish Council can also publish them on the What’s On page of this website on request to the Clerk.

N.B. The noticeboards are open to the elements so any leaflets/posters etc should be protected against the weather.

IDAS Safe Havens Hosts – appeal for volunteers

IDAS Safe Havens Hosts Jan24

IDAS Safe Havens project offers short term accommodation in a volunteer host’s home to support individuals or families who have been subjected to domestic abuse or sexual violence.

LEAD Home Energy Advice Scheme

The Home Energy Efficiency Team at the City of York Council is pleased to announce its LEAD Home Energy Advice Scheme for owners of listed and conservation area properties.

If you ‘re worried about rising bills, staying warm in your own home, or even lowering your carbon footprint, but don’t know where to start, this scheme is for you.

The LEAD Home Energy Advice Scheme will provide York owners of conservation-area and listed properties with a detailed Advice Pack containing:

A thorough insight into the current condition of your property and the best ways to keep your home healthy via insulation, renewable heating and ventilation.
information on how to complete planning permission applications and gain listed property consent.
information on current market prices, deals and grant schemes.
Information on the most up-to-date technology available in the energy sector.

Our experienced advisors will also offer the installation of draughtproofing measures such as radiator foils, draughtproofing strips, loft-hatch insultation and LED lightbulb changes.

To benefit from this scheme, you must:

Be an Owner Occupier or Landlord.
Own a property within a York conservation area or own a listed property.
have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of D or below. If you do not know your Energy Performance Rating, please contact us and we will undertake a new EPC assessment for you.

Home surveys will commence in January 2024; if you believe yourself to be eligible, please contact the team via [email protected] and one of our advisors will be in touch to confirm a survey date and time.

Slow Ways – a network of walking routes

Slow Ways is an initiative to create a national network of walking routes connecting all of Great Britain’s towns and cities as well as thousands of villages.

Using existing paths, ways, trails and roads, people can use Slow Ways routes to walk or wheel between neighbouring settlements, and combine them to create longer distance trips. It’s designed to make it easier for people to imagine, plan and go on walking journeys.

There are currently over 8,000 Slow Ways stretching for over 120,000km. This network of routes was created by 700 volunteers during the Spring 2020 lockdown, creating a unique Slow Ways map in the process.

You can get involved by simply walking a Slow Ways route.

By using the Slow Ways website, and leaving a review, you’re helping create a new national network of walking routes.

Germany Beck Liaison Advisory Committee Information

As part of the ongoing development at Germany Beck, meetings of a Liaison Advisory Committee are attended by representatives from Persimmon Homes, Fulford Parish Council, York City Council and Fulford School every 3-6 months.

The purpose of these meetings is to review operations associated with the development and the allocation of the funds from the Recreation Payment. The Recreation Payment is a sum of £1,740,000 to contribute in part to the new sports hall at Fulford School and to the improvement of existing sports and open space facilities within the vicinity of the Germany Beck development.

The Committee has provision for 2 members of the local community to join its membership to represent the interests of the local residents. To be considered for selection as one of the two community members, please contact Annie Stirk of Persimmon Homes ([email protected]) or Rachel Robinson, Clerk to Fulford Parish Council ([email protected]) with your name, address, preferred method of correspondence and a brief description of why you would like to become a member of the Committee.
